World Cup Pelagics: Wandering Albatross & Humpback Whale

July 7, 2010

Wandering Albatross, Indian Yellow-nosed Albatross, Wilson’s Storm Petrel, Humpback Whale, Dusky Dolphin were just some sightings on Sunday’s Cape Town Pelagics trip. The very windy morning soon calmed down and our skipper managed to find a longliner 18 km due south of Cape Point. The trip included BBC cameraman Mark Golley filming for the FIFA Soccer World Cup, Marje Hemp of Birding Africa and also experienced skipper and conservationist Wilfred Chivell of Dyer Island Cruises & Marine Dynamics who won a space on this trip from Cape Town Pelagics through the African Bird Club Raffle at the UK Birdfair. The trip was led by legendary seabirder Barrie Rose.
