Madagascar 2010: top birds & experiences
The results are out: the top 5 birds and experiences of our 16 day tour (without the Masoala extension).
Top 5 birds: Sickle-billed Vanga and Red-tailed Tropicbird each received 5 votes, while 4 votes went to Madagascar Harrier, Velvet Asity and Madagascar Flufftail! It was tricky to choose from those other superb birds such as Madagscar Snipe, Common Sunbird-Asity, Red-shouldered Vanga and more. See the full list here.
Top 5 experiences: the Nosy Ve boat ride to watch Red-tailed Tropicbirds and snorkel; Indri calling, ear-poppingly close; Short-legged Ground Roller victory after an adventurous hike!; birding among bulging baobabs, spiny octopus trees and milky euphorbias – and sipping sundowners at the beach afterwards!; and the impressive Black-and-White Ruffed Lemurs jumping from canopy to canopy.
